Krynn is an inhabited world far from Eamon, populated by humans, elves, dwarves, and other familiar races. It's also inhabited by dragons which play key roles in the world's many military conflicts. Krynn possesses magic, with practitioners drawing power either from the world's three moons or from its trinity of deities: Paladine, Gilean, and Takhisis.
In 878 YA the high priest of the Empire of Istar sought to ascend to godhood, but the act incurred the wrath of the gods who struck Krynn with a giant meteor. The event, known as the Cataclysm, wiped out Istar and dramatically reshaped the world, beginning the Ages of Despair.
Influence on Eamon
Around 490 YA (445 PC on Krynn) a rift formed between Eamon and Krynn, connecting a point in the Empire of Dorier with a site in the western Plains of Solamnia near the foothills of the Vingaard Mountains. Called the Solamnia Rift, explorers from both worlds passed through it, initiating diplomacy and establishing trade with their new neighbors.
When the Cataclysm struck, many thousands of refugees from Solamnia fled through the rift and made new homes on Eamon. Over the past three centuries the language, beliefs, and traditions of these immigrants have become woven into the culture of Dorier.
