Kelewan was a populated world that existed in a plane far removed from Eamon's. It was inhabited by two human races known as the Tsurani and the Thuril, along with the insectoid Cho-ja and the reptilian, centaur-like Thūn. Though life was abundant, metals were scarce and the material was highly sought and prized.
During a planar near-conjunction in the ninth century, Tsurani mages detected a potential connection to the world of Eamon and forced open an artificial rift. It connected Kelewan to the province of Darland in the Kingdom of Evenhold, allowing Tsurani forces from House Keda to invade. The resulting Darland Riftwar (880–885) killed thousands on both sides and ended when King Molinar succeeded in collapsing the rift.
After the war, thousands of Thurani fighters were left stranded on Eamon, and over the centuries they have been gradually absorbed into the population of Addar. Some Eamonite prisoners were also left on Kelewan.
Around 964 YA the world was deliberately destroyed in order to prevent a malevolent cosmic entity known as the Dreadlord from conquering Kelewan's entire material plane. One of Kelewan's moons was magically pulled from orbit and made to collide with the planet, utterly destroying it and ending the Dreadlord's invasion. Before Kelewan's destruction, most of the world's inhabitants were able to evacuate through rifts and settle on a distant planet dubbed New Kelewan, and some descendants of the Eamonite captives taken during the Darland Riftwar likely survive there.
