Thorvald of Montgarde is the ruling monarch of the Kingdom of Evenhold, the successor to Karsten and the forty-third monarch of the realm. He acceded to the throne in 1180 YA and assumed the regnal name Tanis IV. The king resides and holds court at Bardshill Castle in the city of Evenhold.
Since usage of regnal names is waning, the king remains widely known among his subjects as Thorvald, with the name Tanis now reserved for official or ceremonial contexts.
