Oerth is a distant world in Greyspace, a region either within or closely adjacent to the Prime Material Plane. It's inhabited by many of the same races that inhabit Eamon and rifts have occasionally formed between the two worlds.
The present year on Oerth is 576 CY.
Connections to Eamon
The only two known rifts between Eamon and Oerth both formed around 80 YA (551 BCY). The Dramidj Rift connected a site northwest of the city of Kathros on Eamon to the shores of the Dramidj Sea in the Baklunish Empire, while the more remote Paynims Gate connected the plains of Inner Addar to the Plains of the Paynims.
Diplomatic relations between the Baklunish Empire and the Kingdom of Evenhold were established within the first decade. Enough trade flowed through the Dramidj Rift over the next 150 years that a commercial settlement of warehouses and shops grew around both termini.
In mid-208 YA (422 BCY) during the War of Anharic Succession, two back-to-back cataclysms on Oerth — the Invoked Devastation and the Rain of Colorless Fire — wiped out the Baklunish Empire and their enemies the Suloise Imperium in colossal acts of mutual self-destruction. Eamonites witnessed the disaster through the Dramidj Rift and seeing that it now led only to a vast and smoldering wasteland abandoned the rift and its settlement. Some refugees closer to the Barrier Peaks escaped to Eamon through the Paynims Rift and settled in the plains of Addar, blending with local tribes that would later become the nations of Perrenor and Larboria.
