Dracis Island is a large coastal island in the Sea of Dreams that lies about 20 miles off the shores of the province of Lucidia and about 12 miles west of Fire Island in Weyren's Belt. Legends identify the island as an ancient breeding ground and nesting place for dragons, and though recent sightings have been few the fear of the creatures has kept the land largely uninhabited for centuries, as has the threat of eruptions from a semi-active volcano.
Volsung Fortress, a long-abandoned stone keep in the southern foothills, dates back to the Years of Anharos or earlier and is the island's only significant structure. Scattered cairns and barrows mark the burial places of the earliest inhabitants.
